What happens during calibration?

Calibration checks the brake tester’s measurement performance against the applicable procedure for its model and MOT class. Brake-force readings are checked at the required test loads and the results recorded. If an ATL weighing facility is fitted, include it in your enquiry so its requirements can be confirmed. Tell us about unstable readings, unusual noise or connection faults before the visit. Calibration, servicing and repairs have separate scopes; repair work and parts are quoted separately.

Servicing, repairs and engineering support

Speak with our engineering team about mechanical faults, electrical failures, unstable readings and PC or software connection problems. Telephone diagnosis and remote support are available where suitable. We confirm the work and parts needed before arranging repairs.

Multi-brand brake tester support

Enquiries cover BM Test Equipment, Tecalemit, Space, Ravaglioli, Vamag, ATT, Crypton, Nussbaum, Capelec and Technique, subject to exact model and software confirmation. For Capelec CAP 9010 and CAP 9020, send the full identification plate and system details. Coverage is checked before booking.

MOT calibration dates and certificates

DVSA’s MOT testing guide uses a six-month calibration schedule for roller brake testers, with validity to the end of the sixth month following the last calibration. Arrange your visit before the existing certificate expires. Certificates must identify the equipment and calibration provider, record the test loads, readings and percentage errors, and include the calibrator’s signature and calibration date. Keep calibration records readily retrievable for at least two years. This is MOT guidance, not a universal HGV interval. Guidance checked 14 October 2026.

Why choose TPGE?

Engineering support for calibration, servicing and breakdown enquiries through one team. Telephone diagnosis and remote support where suitable. Managed renewal scheduling for several MOT instruments or workshop locations. Garage Equipment Association member.
